During laser eye surgery, Dr. Zaffater uses the Visx Star 4 Laser to make permanent changes to the shape of the cornea. The laser produces a beam of ultraviolet light to painlessly vaporize small portions of the corneal tissue. This alters the shape of the cornea and corrects refractive errors.
