Dr. Alicia Crooks grew up in the small town of Deville, LA where she graduated from Buckeye High
School. She then attended Louisiana Tech University where she graduated summa cum laude.
In 2008, she obtained her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. While doing one
of her rotations at Tyndall Air Force Bases in Panama City, Florida, she met her husband where they
continued his commitment to the Air Force. This provided Dr. Crooks the opportunity to practice in
different parts of the country, but she eventually found her way back to Louisiana, where they have
made Benton their home along with their three children, one dog and two horses. One of the reasons
that she was interested in optometry is because she spent her childhood years struggling with her
progressive nearsightedness. Thankfully, Dr. Zaffater was able to restore her vision to 20/20 with
Lasik and she hasn’t needed glasses or contacts in over 10 years. Dr. Crooks has been a member of
American Optometry Association and the Optometry Association of Louisiana since 2004. She enjoys
seeing all ages of patients and looks forward to working with Dr. Zaffater in taking care of all
your vision needs.
